Salamander robot body-limb coordination

Download

Description

This video demonstrates how the coordination between the legs and body movements is important for salamander walking. All the three experiments have been run at the same frequency. The left video shows the normal coordination between body and limbs. The central one shows that the body movements are important: the speed without them is clearly reduced. Finally, the video on the right shows bad coordination (i.e., inverted) between the body and the legs: as a result, the robot advances very slowly.
